The Thrifty Stitcher

21, 3-5 Shelford Pl, Stoke Newington, London N16 9HS, UK – 07852 206613

Highly recommend! A fabulous six weeks spent with CL learning to sew. She's a fantastic and patient teacher, catering to all levels. I left feeling accomplished and confident to undertake my own projects - saying that I will definitely go back to hone my skills further. Great location and welcoming atmosphere.

I've taken two classes now at the Thrifty Stitcher and I cannot recommend it enough for anyone who wants to learn the ropes ..umm, threads! and jump into dressmaking. Claire-Louise is fantastic and the classes are very small that you really get personal attention!

Sine Academy

37 Camden High St, London NW1 7JE, UK

I came along as a complete beginner, hoping to broaden my horizons. I had a great time, I was able to get hands on experience mixing sounds pretty much straight away and was given a good overview of the core concepts. Being able to have both the high level view of how the industry works and some basic experience of how to use the software after a single day was more than I was expecting. I feel like there are a lot of avenues I could pursue if I wanted to take this further.

Most informative first session I've ever had in pretty much anything. Went through the basics of audio engineering and DAW use with Andy, and loved every second. Great hands-on lessons with clear information about the craft, and a chance to have a good laugh too. I would recommend these lessons to anyone who wants to learn something new!

Central Saint Martins

Granary Building, 1 Granary Square, Kings Cross, London N1C 4AA, UK – 020 7514 7000

I’m an alumna of one of the college of UAL and took short courses here to increase my professional skills and gain brand new experiences. This college provides loads of short courses and it will be also nice opportunity to learn something different from your professional fields. The short course tutors are really helpful and the my have full of passion to teach. They teach right techniques also give quite useful and professional information. As I know both undergraduate study and short course study in this uni, actually the short courses is quite good to learn technical skills for professionals quickly. (A bit expensive though) The school canteen and the cafes improved a lot and taste much much better, also other facilities like art supply shop and library is much better than before! I envy current students a lot, so use the all possibilities and don’t waste your college life there, work hard:) Don’t forget to buy a college tote at the art shop, it will be a good souvenir.

Seriously outstanding! Worth every penny

North London Wine School

The London Irish Centre, 50-52 Camden Square, London NW1 9XB, UK – 020 8133 0693

My wife and I booked onto the German wine evening and really enjoyed it. Heidi is very knowledgeable and avoids any of the pretention associated with wine appreciation. The whole evening was light hearted and fun but also informative. The best recommendation I can give is that we have booked onto another night.

In the last eight weeks I've tasted over 50 wines - reds, whites, roses; still and sparkling; dry and not-so-dry; expensive and low price; grapes I've heard of and some I haven't from all over the world. With Heidi's expert guidance I've learned to appreciate nuances of smell and taste that I've never thought about before, and discovered some fabulous wines that I'll definitely drink again. I feel more confident in assessing a wine and having an opinion on it. Heidi's style is very relaxed and fun, but she also really knows her wine and shares her knowledge very effectively. The added bonus for me was meeting some great people on the course, and some of us have already decided that we'll be meeting up to continue our wine journey. I'll also be looking out for more courses from Heidi. Go along - I guarantee you'll enjoy it!

The Open University provides high-quality distance learning for people of all ages and educational backgrounds. The joy is that their courses not only can be completed at home but are modular and so make it possible to fit them around life's varying commitments! The OU also do research.

Generally it is quite extraordinary institution which many people thought would fail but actually has been an unqualified success since it was founded in 1969.
